Special needs
We believe that everyone deserves a fair and equal chance to make the most of their talents and opportunities. Some young people find the transition to adulthood difficult because of a disability or health problem of some kind and require additional help and support whilst in learning and to prepare them for jobs and training. We employ specialist advisers who work closely with staff in schools, colleges and training providers to ensure young people get the information, guidance and support they need.
This involvement will often take the form of interviews and group work where young people are encouraged to explore any goals and aspirations they may have. Our advisers also attend Transition Planning meetings designed to help students overcome barriers to progression and to agree a plan of action.
We always try to provide information in a way that is easy to understand by everyone. This can mean supplying it in alternative formats, on request, such as in Braille, large print, audio CD or in a different language. Please contact us if you would like more details about this service.
