Our services

Connexions is a universal service and the same level of support is offered to young people whose biggest problem may be simply deciding which subjects to take in Year 12 or what kind of job may suit them best.

Over 70% of young people talk to a Connexions Personal Adviser in the first instance for advice and guidance on jobs and training, but the service is much broader than this. Connexions can, for example, also provide help for young people who experience problems resulting from drug or substance misuse, depression, homelessness, pregnancy or getting into trouble with the law. In these cases, Advisers work closely with existing agencies such as Social Services, Voluntary and Community Organisations, Youth Homeless Agencies, Teenage Pregnancy Units and Youth Offending Teams. The result is a much faster and more effective response to helping young people who may be facing a number of difficulties in their lives.

Trust is vital in any successful relationship, so a young person’s conversations with an Adviser remain confidential, although they are encouraged to involve you as their parent/carer in discussing the things that may affect them. There are, however, certain circumstances where the personal safety of a young person may be threatened, such as if there is a child protection issue or if criminal or illegal activities are involved. In these instances, we make it clear what action needs to be taken.
