Are you an employer?
Connexions is a support service for all young people aged 13 to 19 in England. Our aim is to provide integrated advice, guidance and access to personal development opportunities for young people to help them make a smooth transition to adulthood and working life.
An important part of this service to young people involves making regular contact with employers and training providers. In this way we can ensure that the advice and information we give about the world of work is based upon real facts. This also means that we can provide a recruitment service for employers, because young people look to Connexions as their own ‘jobcentre’ that can alert them to opportunities in the labour market as they arise.
Even if you don’t have a vacancy at the moment we can:
- provide up to date information on new developments in education
- discuss the benefits of offering work experience placements
- advise you on legislation affecting the employment of young people
For instance, did you know…
young people aged 16 and 17 who leave school or college with few qualifications are entitled to time off from work?
Legislation was introduced in 1999 which means that any young person who hasn’t achieved a ‘level 2’ qualification can expect reasonable paid time off during normal working hours to study or train for a qualification.
Our service is absolutely free and we can advise you of any financial support you may be able to get to help train young people in your workforce.
